Interim payroll

What is interim payroll?

Interim payroll means an outside payroll team takes over your pay runs when your payroll person leaves or payroll has grown past one employee. At PayAdvisors, that team stays on as your payroll department.

Payroll cannot pause while a seat is empty. A missed or inaccurate pay run damages employee trust, so the work needs an owner from the next pay date.

Call us when:

Your payroll person left, or is out sick

Your payroll role has been open a while and payroll is falling behind

The same payroll errors keep coming back

Year-end is close and the work is behind

An audit or a tax notice needs an answer

Your payroll system is being set up or cleaned up

An acquisition or a big headcount change hits payroll

2.

We chase timecard approvals and build in buffer time before every submission deadline.

3.

Every payroll gets a dual audit before it is submitted.

4.

You review and approve each run before it goes out.

5.

Your Client Success Manager keeps you updated and answers your questions.

What you get

What does the team handle from the first pay run?

Interim payroll questions

What is interim payroll?

Interim payroll means an outside payroll team takes over your pay runs when your payroll person leaves or payroll has grown past one employee. With PayAdvisors, that team becomes your payroll department.

How is interim payroll different from emergency payroll?

Emergency payroll is for an unplanned problem that puts your next payday at risk, such as a system failure or a missed deadline. Interim payroll covers a gap you can see, such as an open role or a leave. If payday is close, call 866-839-3322.

Will you work with our current payroll person?

Yes. Many clients keep an in-house person for inputs and approvals, and we work with them closely while our team runs each payroll.

Do we have to switch payroll systems?

No. We run payroll inside the system you already use, so there is nothing to migrate.

How is interim payroll priced?

It is a monthly retainer for a defined level of team support, at about 5, 10 or 20 hours a week. Work beyond your level is billed hourly or moved up a level.

Can you help in any state?

Yes. We run payroll for employers in all 50 states.

Is there a contract or minimum term?

No. There is no minimum term. Service is month to month.

Can you start before onboarding is finished?

Yes. If payroll cannot wait, we run your next pay run while onboarding continues.

How long does onboarding take?

Onboarding runs in phases. Weeks 1 to 2 are onboarding and training. Weeks 3 to 4 are payroll takeover and your first live payroll with us. From week 5, we move into ongoing payroll optimization.
